“Voting line”

The sculpture Voting Line by Anthony Harris and Konrad Geel is a tribute to Nelson Mandela and the democratic elections in South Africa in 1994 and is located in the Donkin Reserve in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

How was the sculpture created?

Voting Line is part of the Mandela Bay Development Agency's (MBDA) urban revitalisation project. The MBDA commissioned Anthony Harris to design the sculpture in 2009. Konrad Geel, an artist and CAD expert, was also involved in the project. MBDA was allowed to integrate the new logo of the Madiba Trust of the Nelson Mandela Foundation into the sculpture.

Where is the sculpture located?

The sculpture is located in the Donkin Reserve, a public park named after the founder of Port Elizabeth, Sir Rufane Donkin. The park is part of the MBDA's Route 67 initiative, which consists of 67 works of art. Each artwork is designed to honour a year in Nelson Mandela's life and his contribution to the South African people.

The design is a true reflection of the sport's practical and straightforward nature, encapsulated by the sub-culture's signature humour and playful vibes. …make everyday a low gravity day!
